I’m naturally a jolly type of person and I smile and laugh- a lot. Although some people advise against smiling too much as they claim that it’s the leading cause of wrinkles, I still smile because I believe in the song Charlie Chaplin wrote and my favourite line is this-
‘You’ll find that life is still worthwhile, if you just smile…’
I’ve had my fair share of not so great encounters with people who choose to stay in a negative state of mind and perhaps, without them realising it, they spread their negativity with others. I believe that emotions are contagious. There’s a fine line between opening up and venting to someone- sharing our feelings and thoughts to taking our anger and frustrations out on the people closest to us.
I have quite a bubbly personality and in actual fact, sometimes, when I take some time to be a little quiet, people would always ask me if there’s something wrong. They say they’re not used to seeing me without my smile. We do need to take some time out to ourselves and although we can’t be expected to smile and joke around all the time, we can make an effort not to make the people around us uncomfortable or scared to even talk to us.
Always remember that you have the power to make someone else’s day good or bad so try and spread as much joy as you can even in the smallest of ways. If you do find yourself surrounded by people who try and burn your happiness, turn the other way.
Your happiness is too precious.
